Meeting of IPS Commission II in Helsinki - Workshop on Peatland Certification
Dear Commission II members
Commission II Chairman Gerald Schmilewski and the IPS Secretariat are kindly inviting you to attend the autumn meeting of IPS Commission II - Industrial utilisation of peat and peatlands. The meeting will be held on 19 November in Helsinki and will mainly deal with the important issue of Peatland Certification. In addition to industry representatives, also the IPS Executive Board and the Scientific Advisory Board will be present.
We ask you now to book your flights to Helsinki for either Tuesday evening (18 November) or Wednesday morning (19 November) and to reserve a hotel room if needed. The Commission II meeting will start at the Airport Congress Centre Helsinki-Vantaa at 12:00, lunch is provided at 11:00.
Hotel rooms for Tuesday or Wednesday night can be booked conveniently by clicking on the links on the second page of the registration form. All bookings and cancellations should be made and paid individually. We recommend staying at one of the airport hotels as the city centre is 30 min drive. For the meeting venue, lunch and coffee at Helsinki airport a fee of 60 € will be charged.
Please study the attached agenda, documents and travel information carefully. The registration form should be returned to the IPS Secretariat by 20 October at the latest. Please let us also know in case you are not able to join the meeting.
Helsinki Airport Congress is situated on the third floor in the international terminal at Helsinki-Vantaa airport, above departure hall 2.
From international terminal:
Follow exit signs from gates and come through security control. Take the elevator from the arrivals hall (first floor) to the third floor where the Congress Centre is situated. The elevator is opposite to Café Picnic on your left side.

November in Finland can be quite cold and wet; possibly there will even be snow. The average maximum temperature during daytime is between -2°C and +4°C, at night -6°C to +2°C. Please make sure to bring warm clothes with you, including gloves, a hat, a scarf and sturdy shoes.
